The Church of Tomorrow?

One thing I’ve always heard about the children in our churches is that the kids are “the church of tomorrow” and we need to do all we can to influence them now. I always thought, wow, that’s a good way to look at it. Where will our church be tomorrow if we don’t focus on them?

So often we think of them as “tomorrow’s church,” but if we children’s workers really want to make an impact on the kids we minister to, we need to view them as our church today. We need to pastor the kids just as much as we do the adults: love them, visit them, write them, rebuke them, etc.

Yes, kids are the church of tomorrow, but they are my church today.

  1. Anthony,
This is a great thought! It is so easy for church leaders and workers to bypass children, thinking they have no immediate impact, but they do. As pastor’s, we are called to shepherd the whole flock of God. Discipleship is needed at all levels of the church. Love it man!

  2. I agree with you 100%. Proverbs 22:6 says to “train up a child in the way he should go;and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We “train” at every age and stage of life not with the next stage in mind. Its done so that we are adequately equipped to serve TODAY. If we’re equipped from our youth, we’ll be far less likely to depart from doing that which we know works and pleases God when we’re old.
